As a Quantum Computing Research Scientist, you'll design and implement breakthrough quantum algorithms to solve previously unsolvable problems in cryptography, materials science, and artificial intelligence. Collaborate with world-class physicists and engineers in our state-of-the-art research facility in the heart of San Francisco's tech corridor. This role offers unparalleled opportunities to shape the quantum landscape and contribute to projects that will define the 2030s.
Responsibilities
- Develop novel quantum algorithms and error-correction protocols for fault-tolerant quantum systems
- Lead experimental quantum computing projects using superconducting and photonic platforms
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate quantum solutions into hybrid classical-quantum workflows
- Publish high-impact research in peer-reviewed journals and present at international conferences
- Secure external funding through NSF and DARPA grant applications
- Mentor junior researchers and contribute to quantum education initiatives
Qualifications
- PhD in Physics, Computer Science, or related field with quantum computing specialization
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with quantum programming frameworks (Qiskit, Cirq, or Q#)
- Deep understanding of quantum error correction and fault-tolerance techniques
- Publication record in quantum information science or quantum algorithms
- Expertise in at least one quantum hardware platform (superconducting, trapped ion, photonic)
- Strong Python/C++ programming skills and numerical simulation experience
- Ability to translate theoretical concepts into practical implementations
