Responsibilities
- Design and implement quantum algorithms for optimization problems in logistics, cryptography, and materials science
- Lead cross-functional teams of physicists, engineers, and software developers to prototype quantum solutions
- Collaborate with hardware teams to improve qubit coherence times and error correction protocols
- Secure $5M+ in research grants from DARPA, NSF, and private sector partners
- Develop intellectual property portfolio with 15+ patents filed in quantum computing methodologies
- Present breakthrough findings at IEEE Quantum Week and Nature Quantum journals
- Mentor postdoctoral researchers and establish university partnerships for talent pipeline
Qualifications
- PhD in Quantum Physics, Computer Science, or related field with 5+ years industry R&D experience
- Published research in top-tier quantum computing journals (Nature, Science, Physical Review X)
- Expertise in quantum error correction, variational algorithms, and quantum machine learning
- Track record of securing federal research grants and managing multi-million dollar budgets
- Proficiency in quantum programming frameworks (Qiskit, Cirq, Q#) and HPC environments
- Demonstrated ability to translate theoretical concepts into commercial prototypes
- Strong leadership experience managing 10+ person technical teams
- Clearance for DoD projects or ability to obtain Secret clearance
